The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers was founded originally as Korean Electronic & Communication Society on November 26, 1946. The society continued to serve as an important source of information and academic exchange, even during the Korean War.
In 2014, the society changed its name to the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers (IEIE) to solidify its commitment to the growth and expansion of academic information and technology in the fields of electronics, information, and communication. The institute has been serving its members through various publications.
The mission of the institute is “to organize and conduct various activities designed to promote the growth and expansion of academic information and technological advancement in the fields of electronics, information, and communications.”
Major activities and involvement of the IEIE include holding international and domestic academic conferences, workshops and seminars, providing short-term training courses, special lectures, and propagating information through off-line publications and internet.
The institute currently counts about thirty five thousand among its registered members (as of January 2018)
 
大韓電子工学会は1946年11月26日に韓国電子通信ソサイエティとして設立されました。このソサイエティは韓国戦争の期間中も、情報と学術交流の場を継続して提供しました。
2014年、このソサイエティは、電子と情報，通信の分野における学術情報と技術の成長と拡張に対する寄与をもっと固めるために学会名を大韓電子工学会(IEIE)に変更されました。当学会は会員へ様々な出版物を提供しています。
当学会のミッションは「電子や情報、通信の分野の学術情報と技術進歩の成長と拡張を促すための様々な活動を企画・実施すること」で，国際・国内会議やワークショップ・セミナーの開催，短期研修や特別講演会の実施，出版物やインターネットを通じた情報の配信などを主に実施しております．当学会の登録メンバーは現在，約3万5千人に至っています(2018年1月現在)。
